While the Covid 19 Pandemic has shut many parks, beaches and parking lots many of our Encinitas trails are still open. Please follow these simple guidelines so we can continue to enjoy these outdoor spaces during this time. Take care and Be SAFE.
Drainage improvement
This new culvert was installed by the Loden project off Desert Rose in Olivenhain.. The trail connects Carlsbad to Encinitas up the hill on the OMWD easement otherwise known as the “S” trail. What a beautiful improvement.
Chicane installed
A new chicane was installed at the end of Dusty Trail. This is the far Northern section of the trail where Encinitas ends and Carlsbad begins. With the addition of the chicane horses, bikes and walkers can pass but not motorized vehicles.
Temporary Trail Closure around Dessert rose
Please add this notification I received about the trail closures around dessert rose.
We have finally gotten a plan together to move forward with the sewer project that runs through the trail between our project and Via De Felicita. On Monday, 8/12, we will be resuming the activities to complete this tie in. This work is being done in conjunction with a dewatering operation at the tie in point. It will take approximately two weeks to complete. I will be posting notices tomorrow indicating that the section of trail will be closed during the construction.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,

Trails 82 and 95 (Rancho Santa Fe Rd / El Camino Del Norte)
Case No. CPP-3049-2019

Project Description: Trail 82 (Rancho Santa Fe Road) and Trail 95 (El Camino Del Norte)
This workshop will be held to solicit community input on the construction of two new trails to connect existing trail segments in the Olivenhain area for the City of Encinitas Parks Department. Trail 82 is on the east side of Rancho Santa Fe Road from Encinitas Boulevard to El Camino Del Norte. Trail 95 is on the south side of El Camino Del Norte from Lucylle Lane to County of San Diego limits.
The project site fronts Rancho Santa Fe Road and El Camino Del Norte in the community of Olivenhain and is zoned Rural Residential 2 with Rural Residential Flood Plain at the easternmost 300’ of Trail 95 on El Camino Del Norte adjacent to County of San Diego right of way. The project is within the Floodplain zone.
Trail 82 and Trail 95 will provide connection of the existing trail system through construction of these two segments. There is no sidewalk or other pedestrian facilities at the proposed trail locations. These improvements will provide pedestrians and equestrians with dedicated trail for the full length of Rancho Santa Fe Road from Encinitas Boulevard to El Camino Del Norte and from Rancho Santa Fe Road to County of San Diego right of way on El Camino Del Norte.
Improvements include new trail, post and rail fencing, pedestrian/equestrian bridge, retaining walls, crossing of El Camino Del Norte and other associated improvements. Both trails will provide safe passage for users where no dedicated pedestrian facilities currently exist, greatly improving safety.

North Entrance to Spooks Canyon is now Open.
After extensive rain damage repairs have been made to the Spooks Canyon Trail. This path has been improved with the addition of road base and presents a gentler and wider approach into the canyon.
More Horse crossing signs
The City of Encinitas has installed additional signs on Lone Jack rd. to alert vehicles when horses are crossing the road. The new signs are about 50 yards ahead of the crossings and show the “Horse Crossing” but also include a smaller sign beneath with the word “Ahead”.
Vineyard and North entrance to Spooks Canyon
Due to the recent heavy rains in San Diego and Olivenhain this trail has been closed until it can be repaired by the City of Encinitas.
